Lorraine V. Knitter, 89, of Stevens Point, died early Saturday morning, April 21, 2012, at the Stevens Point Care Center.
She was born on March 23, 1923, in Stevens Point, to the late John and Florence (Drefcinski) Olbrantz and was a 1940 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School. On Nov. 7, 1942, her marriage to Raymond Knitter took place in Austin, Texas. Raymond died on June 25, 1989.
Lorraine worked as a head cook at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Rosary Society for over 50 years; faith and family were very important to her. She enjoyed eating out at Olympia Restaurant and watching the Andy Griffith Show.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Larry) Lepak of Plover, and Karen (Stan) Skutek of Stevens Point; nephews, Ron (Darby) Klestinski of Manitowoc, and Robert (Pat) Klestinski of Reedsburg; and a very special niece, Darlene (Ben) Newby of Plover.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanore Klestinski and Ramona Bushman.
The family thanks the staff at both the Stevens Point Care Center and Point Manor for their excellent care of Lorraine. Also, a thanks to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Service and to Rosella and Max for their many acts of kindness.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 2nd Street, Stevens Point, and again in the St. Faustina Room of the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
