Richard D. Marrs:
71, of Plover, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center. He was born on November 13, 1940 in Toppish, Washington. He was the third of five children to the late Jess & Helen (Johnson) Marrs. He attended school in LaGrande Oregon.
He was married to Mary Ellen Peskie, the couple later divorced.
He joined the National Guard in 1956. He joined the Navy in 1958. Richard retired from active duty at the rank of E-7 Chief in 1976. After his military career, Richard went to work for Central Sands, he wired their newest building at Central Sands. He worked for Portage County in a top level position in maintenance, retiring in 1998.
He is survived by four daughters: Michelle Marrs, Paula Marrs, Sherry Carver and Terry Carver. Brothers: Jim Marrs and Mike Marrs. Preceded in death by a brother, David, and sister, Mary Lou.
Richard was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an expert in woodworking. He truly loved doing things for others.
As per Richard’s request, no public services or visitation will be held.
Burial of his cremated remains will take place in a columbarium in Northern Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, is assisting the family with arrangements.
