Sister Janet (Clare Marie) Smolinski, 69, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 53 years, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1300 Maria Dr., Stevens Point, with the Rev. Tom Lindner officiating. Burial will follow in the convent cemetery.
Prior to the Mass, visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer service.
Sister Smolinski was born June 3, 1942 in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Kornacki) Smolinski.
She was received into the novitiate of the community on Aug. 10, 1959 and professed perpetual vows on Aug. 10, 1966.
For 34 years, Sister Smolinski was a teacher and principal in Catholic schools in Racine, Milwaukee, River Falls, Stanley and locally at St. Peter School from 1962 to 1965.
Since 1996, she served as the coordinator for the Sisters at St. Joseph Motherhouse.
Survivors include a brother, Paul (fiancée Debbie) of Kansas City, Kansas. A sister, Mary (Philip) Berish; nephews, PJ and Michael Berish of Liberty Lake, Washington; and the Sisters of St. Joseph-TOSF.
She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jim Reindl.
Memorials in her name may be offered to the Sisters of St. Joseph-TOSF.
