Catherine Marie Krutza, age 52, of Stevens Point, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012, of cancer, at Wausau Aspirus Hospice House.

Cathy was born in La Crosse on March 16, 1960. She was adopted in Portage County by her late parents, Chester and Loretta Laska (Simkowski).

She attended St. Stanislaus and St. Joseph’s elementary schools and later graduated high school in 1978 from Pacelli Senior High. She later attended Mid-State Technical College where she obtained her CNA certificate.

She married her husband, David, on February 15, 1986. They had one daughter, Jennifer Lynne Krutza. They all lived happily in Stevens Point. Her husband, David of Stevens Point, and daughter, Jennifer, now of Wausau, survive.

Cathy had an extensive work career, including various restaurants and retail establishments. She was then a faithful and dedicated employee of G & S Woodworking for the past 20+ years.

Cathy was an awesome mother, a great wife, a caring family member and a compassionate friend. She always put others before herself, doing what she could to make all of those around her as happy as possible all the time.

Cathy enjoyed cooking, baking pies and cookies and other deserts, crocheting, gardening, canning, going to various church picnics with her husband, David, and playing Cherry Tree, entertaining family and friends at her home, and spending time with her daughter.

She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Laska; and her mother, Loretta Laska (Simkowski). She is further survived by her grandmother, Laura Wolosek of Stevens Point; two sisters, Bonita (James) Kopchinski of Beldenville, and Tamara (William) Singer of Stevens Point; and one brother, Todd (Desiree) Laska of Custer. She is also survived by seven nieces, four nephews and a great many more extended family and friends.

She will be greatly missed!

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 2nd Street, Stevens Point, and again at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
