Charles “Chuck” D. Konopacky:

Age 56, of Custer, WI died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wed. June 13, 2012 at his home.

He was born July 24, 1955 in Stevens Point. He is the son of Hilda “Gerri” (Mansavage) Konopacky (she survives) and the late Karl Konopacky.

He graduated from Pacelli High School in 1973; he also attended Whitewater University and obtained his Police Science Degree at North Central Technical Institute in Wausau.

His marriage to Susan Higgins took place on Sept. 27, 1980 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She survives.

He was employed for the Stevens Point Police Dept., also worked for UWSP Security Dept. and most recently at St. Michael's Hospital (O.R. Dept.) for 23 years before becoming disabled in 2002.

Chuck was a member of Ducks Unlimited, 12 Apostles Musky Club, Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation and the Turkey Federation.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed taking others on their “first” excursion introducing them to the outdoors. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, following the UWSP hockey team and hunting with his dog “Goose."

Chuck received the Governor Certificate of Appreciation in 1976 while he was a police officer for his heroic efforts saving a man who had fallen into the Wisconsin River.

Survivors include his wife: Susan, and his dog pal: “Goose”, his mother: Hilda "Gerri" Konopacky, one sister: Lynda Konopacky of Waupaca. Two brothers: William of Stevens Point, and James (Jamie) Konopacky of Plover.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard, and his father, Karl.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday at Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center at 2911 Plover Road, Plover. Rev. William Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Funeral Home in Plover and 9:00 am until the time of services Saturday morning at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
