Elaine A. (Burant) Gard
Age 79, of Stevens Point, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the House of the Dove Hospice in Marshfield, WI, surrounded by her loving family.
Elaine was born January 22, 1934 in Stevens Point. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Turzinski) Burant.
She attended local grade schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1952.
Her marriage to Louis Gard (Gardzielewski) took place on June 30, 1962 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband, Louie, survives.
Elaine enjoyed reading, picking mushrooms, canning vegetables from her garden and playing cards with children on Sunday mornings. She especially enjoyed playing the slot machines and cheering on the Packers and Badgers.
She also loved to travel and kept copious notes detailing her travels. At each stop, she purchased a bell for her collection. She valued her time with her children and grandchildren, attending as many sporting events and concerts as she could.
Elaine also enjoyed the outdoors. She was a member of the Poke-A-Snoz snowmobile club, the Stevens Point Yacht Club and the Valley Bummers camping club. She balanced fun with her community service. She was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She was especially active with the Women of the Moose Chapter 311, serving as their Senior Regent and earning many honors, including the Academy of Friendship and College of Regents, which included the highest honor, “Red Scarf” for her many years of service.

Survivors include her husband: Louie, her son: Douglas (Diane Rector) of Grafton and her daughter: Sandy (David) Pederson of Kewaunee, WI; and her two grandchildren: Haily and Jacob Pederson of Kewaunee.
She is further survived by her sister: Margaret Adamski of Port Edwards and her two brothers: Donald (Mary) Burant of Racine, WI and Robert Burant of Stevens Point, and one brother-in-law: Joseph Wozniak of Stevens Point.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters: Loraine Armstrong, Bernice Eschenbach and Maryanne Wozniak.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the Town of Hull. Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, and from 9:30 AM Monday morning at St. Casimir Church until the time for mass.
