Alan James Zurawski, 70, of Stevens Point, WI died peacefully at The House of the Dove in Marshfield, surrounded by his children on May 15, 2023.
Alan was born November 23, 1952, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Albert and Bette (Fredach) Zurawski. Alan attended school at St. Stans, Pacelli and then graduated from PJ Jacobs in 1970. Alan worked at the family bar The Zodiac; later known as Post Road Pub. He also worked at Koch Asphalt and Consolidated/New Page Paper Mill. After the mill shut down, he enjoyed working as an insurance agent for a short time.
Alan was a jack of all trades. If something needed to be fixed, he either knew how to do it or would figure it out. You could often find Al ripping around in his Camaro on beautiful days. He loved cars and enjoyed 4-wheeling in the mountains of Colorado, drag racing in Kaukauna, going to the Iola Car Show, and especially going to Brainerd with "the guys." Al enjoyed being involved in political conversations and events and recently found joy in planning his 50th class reunion with former classmates.
He was happiest when the sun was shining and loved escaping to Arizona during the winter months when he felt well enough. His greatest joy was certainly his grandchildren, and he always made sure to have his phone out to capture all of their antics so he could relive them every day.
Alan is survived by two children, Jennifer (Derek) Wathke of De Pere and Aaron (Jennifer) Zurawski of Custer; three grandchildren, Ava, Aiden and Addison; brothers Mark (Kathy) Zurawski, Kurt (Mary) Zurawski and Kevin (Mary) Zurawski; former spouse Debbie Zurawski; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Steven; and his sister, Bonnie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kwon's care team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Ann Michel, Dr. Islam's Aspirus Cancer Team in Stevens Point, Nurse Michelle Whitehouse, and The House of the Dove staff in Marshfield.
