Alvin D. Golla

Alvin D. Golla 81, of Elk River, Minnesota, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away December 1, 2024. Born June 28, 1943, in Hayward, California, to Oretha {Hendrix) and Edwin Golla and was raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

After graduating from PJ Jacobs High School, Alvin married his sweetheart, Elizabeth J. Janikowski, on June 8, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Parish. He worked for Soo Line Railroad for many years. He retired as a Health and Safety Inspector and Consultant with Canadian Pacific Railway in Canada.

Alvin served as president for the Fur, Fin and Feather Club and had a passion for muskie fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling all over the country, with Alaska being his favorite destination. One of his proudest accomplishments was achieving the rare Trifecta of Muskies in a single day.  He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and he took immense pride in attending their many events and activities.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth J. Golla; his children: Doug (Mary) Golla, Kim (Robert) Welle, Brian (Sheri) Golla, Randy (fiancée Sarah Nicole) Golla. Seven grandchildren: Amanda (Jake) Matthies, Jessica (fiancé Brad Weber) Golla, Blaine Hoffman, Abbie Golla, Ashley Golla, Mason Golla, and Elodie Golla. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: Phoebe Matthies, Oliver Matthies, and Asher Matthies. His siblings: Evelyn (Ray) Danczyk, Francis (Eddie) Hawro, Esther (Everett) Woyak, Stanley (Mary) Golla, Linda Van Hammond and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Joan Golla: brother-in-law, Jerry Van Hammond; and his parents Oretha and Edwin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, Wisconsin. with Fr. Steve Brice officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St. Stevens Point and on Thursday  morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at Holy Spirit Parish. There will be a Parish Rosary at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening to conclude the visitation.  Inurnment will take place at a later date. The Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
