Angeline G. (Slusarski) Derezinski, age 94, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Born on December 29, 1926, in Mill Creek, Angie was the daughter of Francis and Frances (Pieczynski) Slusarski. She attended Green Meadow School through eighth grade. Her brother, Vincent was her teacher for fifth and sixth grades. Angie graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1945.

After high school, she began working for Sentry Insurance (Hardware Mutual) on February 6, 1945, where she was employed until her retirement on April 1, 1987.

Angie married Robert Derezinski on September 6, 1947, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. Robert passed away on August 8, 1997, one month before their 50th wedding anniversary.

Angie and Bob raised a family of four daughters and one son:  Carol Petersen (Donn Gaudin, deceased) Toronto, Canada; Maxine (Rhode) Bronk, Morris, IL; Nancy (John) Lamz, Stevens Point, WI; Gail (Dennis) Mancl, Bluff City, TN, and Robert Jr. (Beth) Derezinski, Biron, WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jessica Petersen, Travis (Amy) Mayek, Ben (Gloria) Bronk, Katie (Bronk) Prutzman (Jason), Tara (Mancl) Davis (Paul), Scott (Rachel) Mancl, Holly Mancl, and Ashley (Crystal) Derezinski. Angie was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, Ryland Mayek; Simon and Sabrina Lamz; Simon, Alex, Kayla, and Charlie Bronk; Alison and Lucy Prutzman; Owen, Eli, and Emersyn Davis; and Crosby, Knox, and Lincoln Mancl. Angie is also survived by her special friend of over 20 years, Leonard Bannach.

She was preceded in death by 10 brothers, Vincent, Peter, Joseph, Dominic, Louis, Raymond, Steven, Victor, Felix, and Stanley, and one sister, Agnes.

After her retirement, Angie led an extraordinary life of service and volunteerism. She was a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at Lincoln Center for 33 years, from March 4, 1988, until Covid restrictions in 2020. Angie was also a volunteer for Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Portage County (now the Aging and Disability Resource Center) for many years. Her activities with this organization included office work and doing home support visits, and, along with her husband, volunteer driving to doctor visits and medical appointments.

Angie initially joined the Rosary Society at St. Bartholomew's Church at the age of 18, then transferred her membership to St. Peter's Church, where she was an active member until her death. She was also a member of the Secular Order of St. Francis at St. Peter's Church.

Angie was a member of the Auxiliary to VFW Post #568 until it disbanded. She assisted her husband, Robert, in his position as Adjutant, by typing the newsletter for the Post and Auxiliary for 38 years. She also served as Trustee for 19 years. Angie was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary until it disbanded in 2008.

Angie found many ways to enjoy life and keep busy during her retirement. She completed the Stevens Point Journal crossword puzzle daily, in addition to daily online puzzles and challenges, she enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles and richly deserved her nickname "Puzzle Queen". One singular achievement , which was highlighted in the Stevens Point Journal, was the completion of an 8000-piece puzzle At Lincoln Center, along with several friends. This daunting project took over a year to complete. Angie also enjoyed reading, gardening, raising African violets, going to church picnics, in addition to bowling and dancing in her earlier years. More recently she added watching old movies every afternoon or evening, and doing a daily Bible study to her routine.
