Art was born in Los Angeles, California on April 9, 1944, to Paul and Hilda. Hilda later married George Frank. Art was the eldest of fifteen children. He graduated from River Valley High School in Spring Green, Wisconsin in 1963. He married Connie Phetteplace and together they had 9 children. He later married June (Rogers) Pearce in 1991.
Art worked within the Wisconsin dairy industry for most of his adult life, retiring from Foremost Foods in Plover, Wisconsin at the age of 70. He enjoyed spending time with his family, birdwatching from his favorite chair, and was an avid Badger fan, enjoying the fall basketball and football season. He was even an armchair coach at times.
He loved to listen to old time country music, and you always knew his favorite songs because he would sing along. Art was a hard worker, devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. He was proud of his children, cherishing the time he spent with them and their families and enjoying every moment as his family grew with each new birth.
Art is survived by his loving wife June, 8 of his children, Artie Holford, Pam (John) Moos, Chris (Vicky) Holford, Wes Holford, Tammy (Joe) Kumm, Roxanne (Chris) Cheatle, Troy (Amy) Holford, and Kari (Heather) Kuffer, 27 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.
He is further survived by 6 step-children, Jeff (Lori) Pearce, Laurie Breu, Kris Pearce, Amy Pearce, Kevin Pearce, and Adam (Kelley) Pearce, 11 step-grandchildren, and 12 step-great grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his infant son, Tracy, his parents, and 3 siblings.
The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to Marshfield Medical Center for the exceptional care.
