Barbara A. Grubba

February 5, 1962 — May 13, 2021

Amherst Junction

Barbara "Barb" Agnes Grubba, age 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 13, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born February 5, 1962. She attended the local Catholic schools in Stevens Point  and graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High in 1980. She met Kurt Grubba in 1983 and stated to a friend that she knew she was going to marry him someday. Her marriage to Kurt took place on August 20, 1988 at St. Peter's Church in Stevens Point. The couple settled in Amherst Junction and made a home together for the past thirty-two years.

She enjoyed maintaining her flower beds, caring for the wild birds, and baking at home. Throughout the years, Barb was an employee of Sentry Insurance, a stay-at-home mom, a Girl Scout troop leader, a CCD teacher, a daycare provider, an employee at Figi's, and most recently she worked at Paradigm. Together, Kurt and Barb enjoyed camping each summer with their children and family friends. Over the last few years, they especially loved moments together at their cabin spending time outside, fishing, cooking, and relaxing together.

Barb loved her children fiercely and was proud of their accomplishments over the years and what she knew they'd continue to achieve in the future. She warmly welcomed and loved her son-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were her own children as well. As her family was able to be with her over the last few months, they learned from her that one of her wishes in life was that she hoped that all the children she worked with through Scouts, CCD, daycare, and her children's school take some lesson away from who she was. She thought about these kids now as adults and hoped she made a positive impact and hoped they think the same.

Survivors besides her husband Kurt, daughter Abbey (Erik) Peterson of Stevens Point, son Scott (Marissa Kunsman) Grubba of Plover, and her granddaughter-to-be include her siblings Cynthia (Larry Mickelson) Whitman of Sturgeon Bay, Kathy Johnson of New Hope, MN, Linda (Rick) Froehlich of Stevens Point, and Dan (Tammy Pask) Wierzba of Plover. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and three great-nieces also survive.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Darlene (Strasser) Wierzba.

The family would like to thank all of the family, friends, and coworkers that have been so kind and generous over the last few months as well as the care teams at both the Ascension St. Michael's ICU in Stevens Point and the House of Dove in Marshfield.
