Bernice M. Haka 87, of Plover passed into God's hands on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Maple Ridge Memory Care in Plover. She was under the care of Aspirus Hospice.
Bernice was born in Amherst WI on January 20, 1935 to the late Charles and Susan (Palash) Sopa. She attended local schools.
Bernice moved to Milwaukee in 1951 where she met the love of her life. Her marriage to Steve S. Haka took place on June 23, 1956 at St Mary of Mount Carmel-Fancher. They celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Bernice worked and retired from Herrschners in Stevens Point where she thoroughly enjoyed her role in Human Resources and the people she worked with.
Over the years she enjoyed cooking and baking especially for birthdays and special occasions, birthday cakes, Christmas cookies, stollen and fruit cake, pies and ponczkas were plentiful, spending time with family-especially her grandchildren, enjoying their beautiful yard, tending to flower and fruit and vegetable gardens or just watching the birds, polka music and dancing with her husband and an occasional trip to the casino occupied her time.
Survivors include her husband Steve S. Haka, Daughters Laurie (Gary) Ramczyk and Colleen Quimby. Son in Law Dennis Harwood. Granddaughters Katlin Harwood, Kayla Ramczyk and Breana (Easton Gumney fiancé) Ramczyk. Sisters Lorraine Studinski and Marian Donovan. Sister in laws, Janice Sopa and Sharon Sopa. Brother in laws Ron Haka and George (Linda) Haka and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Susan Sopa, Daughter Kathleen S. Harwood and Granddaughter Tricia Ramczyk, Brothers Clarence, Harry, Myron, Gregory, Richard, Charlie Jr (Butch), Donald and 1 infant brother. Sisters, Irene Pogorzelski and Ernestine Kontney. Sister in Laws, MaryJane Zblewski and Rita Rudzinski.

A Mass of Christian burial for Bernice will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 7, 2023 at St Bronislava Catholic Church-3200 Plover Rd Plover. The Very Rev Ed Shuttleworth will be officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Custer. Visitation on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.
