Betty D. Bartsch

Betty D. Bartsch, 91, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by family at Bethany Home in Waupaca. Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Pisarski Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, with services to follow at 11:00. Burial will take place at Plover Cemetery.

Betty was born on February 15, 1934, to Ezra and Edith (Moss) Schilling in Chili, Wisconsin. She attended Pine Circle School in Chili, the same rural school both of her parents attended. She graduated from Granton High School in 1952, and from the Wood County Teachers College in Wisconsin Rapids in 1954. She then taught for two years in one-room rural schools in Wood and Portage County.

Betty married Leland (Lee/Doc) Bartsch on July 3, 1954, in Chili at the United Brethren Methodist Church. They then settled in Plover, Wisconsin, where she worked as a Librarian Assistant at Roosevelt School in Plover. Betty and Lee spent several years square dancing, traveling, skiing, camping, and walking the sidewalks of Plover daily. Leland preceded her in death on August 29, 2006.

Betty is survived by her daughter Judith Schneider of Laytonsville, Maryland, Jeffrey (Susan) Bartsch of Amherst, Wisconsin, Michael (Lori) Bartsch of Hortonville, Wisconsin, and Raoul (Jackie) Bartsch of Spallumcheen, British Columbia, Canada. She is further survived by her brother Gene (Janet) Schilling of Arkdale, Wisconsin, grandchildren Maggie (Nick) Ramey, Austin Bartsch, Kristin (Eric) Kroening, Elizabeth (Joshua) Engle, Ezra (Maddie) Bartsch, and Leah Bartsch and step grandchild Dustin Rusch, and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, one infant son, her daughter-in-law Amy Bartsch, her brother Lewis (Carol) Schilling, and her sister Bernice (Richard) Zakrzewski.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Bethany Home in Waupaca, who cared so well for "Miss Betty", helping to make her final weeks comfortable.
