Carol A. Firkus

Carol Firkus (Glodowski) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Compassus.

Carol was born on June 16, 1926, to the late John and Anastasia (Sankey) Glodowski in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin. On May 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Alfred Firkus. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Carol attended a one room school, Feltz Elementary School and graduated from Amherst High School. Carol was an active member of St. Mary's Altar Society; and a member of St. Mary-Mount Carmel Rosary Society and American Legion Auxiliary.

Carol was formerly employed at Weber Tackle Company and Del Monte.

Carol enjoyed playing cards, family gatherings, trips up north and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter; Kathy (Tom) Fields; granddaughters, Melissa (TC) Boyd; great-grandchildren Thomas and Hank; Stephanie Fields (Kody Ross); great-grandchildren, Carter and Jaxson. Granddaughters; Amy Fields and Shelby Fields (Brady Zellner); grandsons, Justin Firkus and Jaron (Kelly) Firkus. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, John and Michael. Also preceded in death by her brothers and their spouses, Reynold (Ruth), Hubert (Irene), Alfred (Grace), Eugene (Dorothy) and sister, Madeline (Edward) Reuther.

Carol was a great woman and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7176 Esker Road, Custer, WI. Visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
