Dale Jerome Morey, age 69, of Junction City, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Thursday, March 13, 2025, while under hospice care at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Dale was born in Waupaca, WI on March 5, 1956, to Verlea and Jerome Morey. Dale lived in Stevens Point throughout childhood and attended local elementary schools. In high school, he was active on the hockey and wrestling teams and graduated from SPASH in 1975. He traveled extensively in the US, from Alaska to Florida, visiting family and friends. His work in pole building construction took him throughout the Midwest. After returning to Stevens Point, he held several jobs until getting hired as a warehouseman at Americold Corp. where he worked for over forty years, only retiring in Nov. 2024.
On June 27, 1992, he married Debra Bannach and they settled in the town of Carson where they raised their two children, Alexandria and Dylan along the banks of the Wisconsin River.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman and spent his adult years on a variety of activities including cross country skiing, roller blading, fishing, camping, snorkeling, hiking, biking, rock hounding, and sharing his love of the outdoors with his children as they grew. He also enjoyed reading, listening to rock and roll (he loved attending concerts), cooking, traveling, and sharing laughter and song with his coworkers. He was someone who was always willing to help out a friend or relative with any construction or maintenance project they needed help with and had a penchant for putting others before himself. He was a prolific storyteller who loved to talk to people and held lifelong friendships with a multitude of his buddies from an early age.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents. Dale is survived by his wife, Deb, his daughter Alex, and his son Dylan, both of Rudolph, WI. As well as his sisters Debra (Mark) Strong of Fond du Lac and Deanna Holtz of Mosinee, his brothers Daryl (Gwen) Morey of Stevens Point, Dean (Birgitte) Morey of Stevens Point, and Daniel (Cathy) of Stevens Point, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was survived, too, by his friend Michael Borski, who was like a brother to him.
The family would like to extend thanks to the wonderful staff of Aspirus Hospital, Stevens Point, and UW-Health, Madison, as well as the House of the Dove, Marshfield for all their work caring for Dale in his last months of life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date.
