Daniel James Landre of Stevens Point, WI passed away April 25 th , 2023. After a courageous battle with cancer, he found peace at 88 years old.

The motto Dan imprinted on all his children was: "I am no better than anybody and nobody is better than me. Treat everyone with respect." He had a positive attitude, calming nature, loved meeting new people, and always put others before himself. Dan donated to countless charities even when money was tight.

Dan was born February 13 th , 1935 to Lawrence and Arvilla (Brabender) Landre of Peshtigo, WI. In school, was a model student who was skilled at both athletics and academics. Dan played quarterback for the Peshtigo Bulldogs, was a star basketball player, and was a four-year letter winner in both. He also played tennis and was Valedictorian of the class of '53.

Dan attended Marquette University on a scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an Accounting major. In 1957 he married Lucy Gremmer and was hired as a Junior Accountant at the Louis Allis Co. in Milwaukee. In 1960 he began working at Harley-Davidson where he advanced to eventually lead a team of 25 people. Dan excelled at his position and was named Finance Man of the Year in 1971.

In 1975, Dan left his desk job to start a new life in the country with his wife Diane Anderson. He said quitting Harley-Davidson to be a farmer "was the best decision [he] ever made and they were great years with lots of challenges." Having never milked a cow before, Dan purchased a small dairy farm in Waupaca, WI in 1976 where he would live for the next 43 years.

Dan and his family operated a farm of 25 cows and other small animals until 1989 when he took a job as an accountant for Bassuener Contruction in Port Edwards, WI. In 1995 he was hired as Chief Financial Officer at DMK in Stevens Point where he worked until retirement. He married Theresa Becker in 2010, and the couple moved to Stevens Point in 2019.

Dan always had an appreciation for music, but fell especially in love with blues during the late 1980s. He hosted an infamous annual blues festival on his farm for a crowd of friends and family 10 years in a row and devoted much of his free time to attending live concerts and festivals. He had several other hobbies and interests in life, a few of which included fishing, camping, golfing, motorcycling, sports, enjoying nature, winter recreation, summer sunsets on the farm, and a well-made Old Fashioned.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Arvilla (Brabender) Landre, sister Judith (Krolikowski) Landre, brother-in-law Stanley Krolikowski, as well as aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife Theresa; children Mary (Tyler Waxman) Landre, John (Toni) Landre, Nancy Landre, Tom (Linda) Landre, Jesse (Becky) Landre, and Lacy (Eric Sanford) Landre; stepsons Quinn (Clare) Foley and Nole (Brianna) Oltesvig. Dan is further survived by his niece, Anne Landre, nephews Larry and Joe Krolikowski, many grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends.
