David Alfred Lila, Jr., 92 of Plover, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1933 to the late David, Sr., and Susan (Worzella) Lila.
David attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1951. He married his wife, L. June Brown, of 70 years on November 12, 1955.
David joined the U.S. Army on September 28, 1956. He did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood located in Missouri Ozarks. After basic training he went to Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Spring, Colorado. Then he was transferred to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas and the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks (USDB), Maximum-Security Prison Fort Leavenworth as a Security Guard. He was honorably discharged on September 26, 1958. He received Expert (Carbine), Sharpshooter (M1), and Good Conduct Medals.
After his time spent in the army, David worked for Consolidated Paper-River Division until he retired in 1992.
David was loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved spending time with his family, keeping his home, yard and vehicles pristine. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, moose hunting in Canada, deer hunting, and fishing with his family and many friends. David and June also traveled to Arizona, Nevada, and Florida to enjoy golfing. Later in life they enjoyed occasional trips to the casinos in Wisconsin and going out to breakfast with their friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Arlene (Lila) Fahrner; his brothers-in-law, Jack Fahrner and Hank Herek; his mother-in-law, Lela Brown; his father-in-law, William Brown; his sister-in-law, Maxine (Brown) Herek; his son-in-law, Robert E. Lee; his daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Wyerski) Lila; and his grandson, Dylan L. Kissinger.
David is lovingly survived by his wife, L. June (Brown) Lila; his daughter, Lori (James) Lee-Kissinger; and his son, David W. Lila. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Lila, Kaleb Kissinger, and Matthew Kissinger; and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt Bowman and Owen Konkol. He is also survived by his nephews, John Fahrner and Jerry Farner, and his nieces, Julie Fahrner and Jodi Tarala.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Full military honors will follow the service.
