David J. "Ziggy" Zagrzebski
Of Stevens Point died Monday, November 1, 2021 at Wisconsin Rapids Health Services while under the care of Compassus Hospice and with his loving family at his side. Dave courageously battled PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) for the past several years.
Age 75 Dave was born May 14, 1946 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Edwin and Alice (Turzinski) Zagrzebski. He attended local grade schools and graduated from P.J Jacobs High School in 1964. His marriage to Barbara Olski took place on May 13, 1967 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The couple recently celebrated their 54 th wedding anniversary. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point to raise their four children. Dave worked at the Whiting – Plover Paper Mill for a number of years and was also in the National Guard Reserves from 1964 to 1969.
He owned and operated Ziggy's Lounge/North Point Restaurant along with Mr. Lucky's night club until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, the couple moved to Lake DuBay.
In his free time, Dave loved deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. His all-time favorite singer was Elvis Presley. Dave's beloved grandchildren were the light of his life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Dave's name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, their children; Derrick (Lisa Ruhbusch) Zagrzebski, Dean (Angie) Zagrzebski, Tina (Ricky Higgins) Zagrzebski and Tracy (Kris) Marchel all of Stevens Point, and his two granddaughters Kylie and KayBri Marchel.
Further survived by his two brothers Ralph (Rita) Zagrzebski of Wausau and Theodore Zagrzebski of Arizona, three sisters Marilyn (William) Heilman of Washington, Margaret "Marge" Bernas of North Dakota, and Linda Kight of Minnesota, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Conrad Zagrzebski, Richard "Dick" Zagrzebski, Edwin Jr. Zagzebski and a brother-in-law Casimir "Moose" Bernas, and sister-in-law's Janice Zagrzebski and Jeanette Zagzebski.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Pisarski Funeral Home of Steven Point. Deacon Jim Trzinski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. Monday until the time for services. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. The Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
