DELORES AGNES ZAKRZEWSKI

As I write this, I say farewell to my beloved family and friends.  I enjoyed 64 years of married life to my dearest Jim to whom I bid goodbye on December 1st, 2017.  During our journey of life, we enjoyed the births of our five children: Jackie (Mike Hintz, deceased), Mark (deceased), Michael (Debbie), Peter (Laina), and Dawn.  We were blessed with grandchildren Leslie (Kurt Calkins), Jake (Angela) Hintz, Seth (deceased), Zane, Sam (Juhi John), Lucas (Jisela Hagedorn), Gus (Sydney), Owen, and Emeryck Zakrzewski and great grandchildren, Kaylee, Anna Marie, Mackanzie (Andrew Pribramsky), and Natalie Hintz.

I was born May 4, 1934.  My Parents were Martha (Ceplina) and Frank Riske.  My Sister was Lorraine (Leroy Schnell).  My education started at Grant School, then St. Peters, St. Joseph's Academy, and Vocational classes in art, millinery, tailoring, upholstering, and cake decorating.  These skills helped make my journey through life more fulfilling.

My religion has always been a very important part of my life and helped get us through tragedies we endured.  I found support and guidance attending St Peter's, St Stephen's, and now St. Bronislava church.  Sr. Mary Ann Stoltz was an angel on wheels who always came to visit, pray, and bring me communion.  We solved many world problems on those visits for which I was most grateful.

Our home had a drop in policy, with a cookie and coffee, milk or a meal.  Jim insisted you "sit and eat".  There was always food for one more.  Playing pool downstairs with the kids or teaching neighborhood boys how to dance are memories I often recall.

Jim and I enjoyed our Mercer "shack" with family and friends.  I could fish for hours, a Hail Mary with each cast.  Lots of fish.  Jim enjoyed filleting them so we were a good team!

Thank you to my children and dear friend Annette Ziellow who always made sure my fridge was full of meals.  Thank you to everyone who visited and helped me in my later years.

I was truly blessed to have the love of family and many friends.  I cherished all of you.

"It's better to laugh than cry".

God bless and keep you,

Delores Zakrzewski

Delores met her husband Jim while working at the Blue Top Drive-In.  They married April 19th, 1954.  Together they founded Blue Top Farms in 1959.  Delores took care of the books and enjoyed going on cattle buying trips with Jim.  At home, Delores ran the house and Jim managed the farm.

Friends would regularly stop in for morning coffee and to catch up on the latest news.  They were fortunate to travel with friends, they enjoyed Greece, Alaska, Arizona, and especially Las Vegas.  Their home was always open to welcome those who stopped in to visit.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Delores will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday November 5, 2024, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church 3200 Plover Road Plover. Rev Arturo Vigueras will officiate.
