Delphine Ann Konopacky passed away on November 5, 2024 at the age of 92.
Del was born July 22, 1932 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Peter and Rose (Laszewski) Skalski. She graduated in 1951 from St. Joseph Academy in Stevens Point.
Del married David Konopacky on June 7, 1952. She moved to Newport, RI while Dave served in the Navy. There, they had their first son, Jeff. In 1955, they moved back to Stevens Point to continue growing and raising their family of four.
Del enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, whether with her regular card clubs, friends or family. She had her "regulars" over for coffee many mornings each week. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning the harvest of Dave's vegetable garden. She was also a caregiver to many, including her mother, Aunt Helen and Uncle Ed, and many other neighbors or church members needing help. She was an energizer bunny that just kept going. Del was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Del lost her husband, Dave tragically in 1988. After Dave's death, she turned to many of her close friends. Del, Mary and Doris did many activities during this time including cards, bowling and travel, including trips to Alaska and Europe. In 2005, she began seeing her close companion, Gene Krutza, who is still by her side today.
Del is survived by her four children: Jeff (Kathy) Konopacky, Kris (Nancy) Konopacky, Sue (Arlyn) Clark, and Karen (Jeff) Gust. Her legacy includes four grandchildren: Jamie Konopacky, Ryan (Amy) Koelemay, Mike (Kristen Love) Koelemay, and Sarah Koelemay (Pete Dassow). Also included are six great grandchildren: Austin, Evan, Ian and Adeline Koelemay, and Lorelei and Kaelyn Love. And of course, many nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in death by her loving husband David, her parents Peter and Rose Skalski, brother Gerald Skalski, sister-in-law Ruth Skalski, sister Maxine Skalski and her granddaughter Jessica Konopacky.
