Dolores L. Yach

June 17, 1927 — June 25, 2022

Stevens Point

Dolores Lillian Yach of Stevens Point, WI, passed away peacefully at Dimensions Living, a senior living center, under the care of Heartland Hospice, on June 25, 2022. She was born on June 17, 1927, to Joseph and Lillian (Lapinski) DeMares in Chicago, IL. Lillian passed away on October 4, 1931, in Chicago, IL when Dolores was only four years old. Joseph remarried Helen Check in 1932 and they resided in Stevens Point.

Dolores grew up speaking English and Polish at a very young age and continued to occasionally  enthusiastically converse in Polish as an adult. She graduated in 1945 from St. Joseph's Academy and successfully completed a stenographer program. Very quickly Dolores began her career at the Worth Company, and shortly after, she married her grade school sweetheart Leonard M. Yach on October 21, 1950, at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Dolores loved being a career woman as was evident by her employment at the Worth Company spanning more than 38 years. During this time, she also fully managed a household while being a dedicated wife and loving mother to her children. She was also a Rosary Society member for over 50 years and a member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus.

Dolores enjoyed gardening, shopping, crosswords, and meeting new friends. She always had a kind word and a smile on her face for anyone she met. Her wit and sense of humor brought people of all ages to laughter. On Sundays, she could be found watching the Packers or dancing the polka at a local venue, even into her 80s. Dolores was a member of the CenterPoint Mall Walkers and throughout her life, traveled near and far to California, Washington D.C., Florida, Las Vegas, and Norway. She had a huge sweet tooth.  "From the lips to the hips" she would often say after enjoying her favorites like angel food cake, ice cream or chocolate.

Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, father and mother Joseph and Lillian DeMares, stepmother Helen Check, stepbrother Ronald DeMares and stepsister Patricia DeMares (Omernik).

Her loving spirit is survived through her children - two daughters, Anita Yach Ross and Linda Yach (Joanna) of the San Francisco Bay Area, and one son, Jerry Yach of Tomahawk, WI; two grandsons, Justin (Trina), Jaren (Bobbi), one granddaughter (Alyssa), and greatgrandchildren (Brilee, Jaret, Jonah, Josie).

We would like to thank the Dimensions Living staff and management for creating a second home for mom over the last seven years, and Heartland Hospice for end-of-life care.

Vaya con Dios , Mamacita. We love you!
