Donald Young of Stevens Point peacefully passed away on October 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on August 25, 1940, to the late Clarence and Marian (Smith) Young, Donald attended local schools and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1958. He furthered his education in Architectural Drawing at Fox Valley Technical College.
Donald married Evelyn Allen on November 28, 1959, and after her passing on July 23, 1998, he married Alice Polum on June 28, 2001, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. He worked for P. H. Glatfelter and retired in 2008.
Donald had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed making sausage, wine, and sauerkraut. He was an active volunteer for Special Olympics and participated in many events at St. Bronislava parish.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice, his children Donald Jr. (Beth), Rodney (Denise), Becky (Kelli), Carmie (Brian), Jackie (Darrell), Ron (Traci), Kevin (Terry), Michelle, and Jeremy, along with 28 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. His sister, Ann, also survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn, his brother Duane, and sister Helen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the time of the service, with a parish rosary recited at 9:15 a.m. Rev. Arturo Vigueras will officiate. Burial will take place at Most Precious Blood Cemetery in New London, tentatively on November 9, 2024.
