Dorothy A. Schubert

January 21, 1936 — October 18, 2023

Stevens Point

Dorothy Ann Schubert (Eron), 87 passed away on Wednesday, October 18th surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on January 21, 1936 in Portage County in the township of Carson. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Regina (Glaza) Eron. She attended Lieutenant Mellory school and graduated from Rudolph high school .

Following high school, she worked at  Hardware Mutual (Sentry Insurance), Consolidated Papers and  St Michaels hospital where she retired in 1998. On September 29, 1962 she married Richard Schubert at St Bartholomew Catholic Church. Her husband Richard passed away on June 11, 2023. Dorothy was a natural caretaker and always lovingly took care of her family and extended family members. Dorothy lived and enjoyed a simple life. She always had to be busy doing something and was never one to just "sit around".
She enjoyed their garden and would be busy canning its abundance of produce. It was always around this time of year you would walk into her house and smell the aroma of  tomatoes being canned. She also made the best refrigerator dill pickles and cannot forget her famous "ground bologna" sandwiches that she always made every hunting season and throughout the year.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and dogs up north at the family cabin on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage.  On the cold winter nights up there, she was the one starting the fire and made sure to keep it going through the night. Her greatest joy and role was being a grandma to her only grandchild/granddaughter, Lauryn. ("Sweetie Pie"). Times spent together baking cookies, hanging clothes out on the line, watering flowers, feeding the ducks, to later providing advice on laundry, cooking or just a phone call on the way back from class to make sure Lauryn made it safe to her apartment will be memories cherished and never forgotten. Dorothy had a strong faith in God and believed in the power of prayer. Many rosaries and prayers were said by mom for all that needed. Especially for Lauryn when exams were coming up ("You did your best") . We know that those prayers will continue.

Dorothy is survived by her children Randy (Deb Rupar) Schubert, Renee (Gary) Kinney, granddaughter Lauryn and step granddaughters Daley and Shaefer Rupar. Sisters Eleanor (Raymond) Wiernik, Caroline (Chester) Wiernik, Sister-in-Law Kathy (Brian) McCloud and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Richard and parents Felix and Regina Eron.

There's a story behind everything "how a stain got on the rug, how a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story, because hers is where yours begin"
