Dorothy A. Suchowski

Dorothy Ann Suchowski, 83, of Stevens Point, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center in Plover.

Dorothy was born in Milwaukee, WI, on September 15, 1937.  She was the daughter of the late Antoinette (Slagowski) and Walter Bungert.  When she was small, they moved to Stevens Point, where Dorothy attended local schools.  She married Fabian Suchowski on October 12, 1957 at St Peter's Catholic Church.  Her husband Fabian died on January 6, 1994.

Dorothy worked at the Stevens Point Telephone Company as a young woman and then went to work at St. Michael's Hospital as a telephone operator and later, as an admissions assistant, before retiring in 2007.

During her retirement, Dorothy was a member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed spending countless hours volunteering for that organization.  She also enjoyed playing Bingo, travelling, visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Dorothy was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

Survivors include her daughters, Monica (Dan) Sankey, and Barbara (Kurt) Miller, and her sons, Ronald (Cindy) , Roger (Susan), and Andrew.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and  her sister, Betty (Mike) Weller.

Dorothy was preceded in death by 1 grandchild, Kurt Jr. and 1 great-granddaughter, Alexis.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at North Shore and Maple Ridge assisted living centers.  The caring staff became part of our family during the last 2 ½ years, and we have appreciated all they have done for us and for the loving care they gave our mother.  We would also like to thank the Ascension Hospice Team, especially Donna, Maria, Dave and Lilly, for the wonderful medical and emotional support they showed our mother.  Their dedication to helping us during this difficult time was commendable.

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street, Stevens Point.  Chaplin Dave Baker will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.  Visitation on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the family.  For online condolences please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com
