Edward C. Boyden

May 19, 1928 — May 28, 2021

Edward Charles Boyden, 93, joined his loving wife in heaven Friday, May 28, 2021.

Ed was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin May 19, 1928, the son of Charles Amos and Ruth Irene (Massey) Boyden.

He graduated from Central Catholic Boys High in 1946, and St. Norbert College in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on November 20, 1950 as a naval aviator. He was proud of his 100 carrier take offs and landings. He was honorably discharged November 19, 1954 from fighter squadron Nine Four with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. He received five air medals, including the Combat Commendation Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal and National Defense Ribbon.

After the service he went to work for Hardware Mutual, (later Sentry Insurance) in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he met his future wife, Joyce Peterson. The couple married September 1, 1956. They settled in Appleton and raised their daughter Cynthia there until 1969, when Ed was transferred with Sentry Insurance to Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Ed worked for Sentry for 37 years, retiring in 1991.

Ed and Joyce enjoyed camping, traveling, and square dancing. Ed volunteered for the Motor Vehicle Department for over 25 years.

There was never anything he couldn't fix…he was a jack of all trades.

After Joyce passed in November 2020, he went to live with his daughter and son in law, Cynthia Boyden and Mark Pagel in Cumming, GA. He enjoyed playing cards, watching tv, and playing with his grandcat Quigley.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia and her husband Mark, and brother and sister-in-law Patrick and Julie Boyden, Kent, OH, sister-in-law Nancy Peterson of Appleton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth (Boyden) Duffy and the Honorable William Duffy.

You are missed. I hope you and mom are talking about the six months you spent with us in Georgia, and that you are telling her how "good the food was in this place". I'll always be your "Twerpy".
