Elsie J. Fliss

Elsie J. Fliss of Polonia, WI passed away early Thursday morning, October 26, 2023, at Dimensions Assisted Living Center. Age 87, Elsie was born December 7, 1935, in Portage County. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Turzinski) Burant. She attended Sacred Heart Grade school, Tomorrow River School, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.

Her marriage to Ludwick J. Fliss took place on June 8, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1958.

Elsie worked for the Community First Bank of Rosholt for 50 years until her retirement. She loved spending time doing activities and volunteering for anything involving The Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Polonia. In her free time Elsie enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She hosted a much-loved hunting weekend for extended family at her home for many years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Tom and Nancy Fliss of Georgia, grandchildren Libby Fliss (Jo Moore) and Alex Fliss, and great granddaughter Maxwell Moore. Elsie was also a beloved Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her siblings Henry Burant, Stanley Burant, Clarence Burant, Grace Kozelek, Evelyn Pallen and Eleanor Morett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Custer. Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church until the time for Mass.
