Elsie M. Hytry

Elsie Marie Hytry, Age 95 peacefully passed away Sunday afternoon, May 16, 2021 at the North Crest Adult Living Center in Stevens Point,  with her loving family at her side, while under the care of Compassus Hospice of Stevens Point.

Elsie was born December 21, 1925 in the Town of Amherst. She was the daughter of the late Roman and Martha (Mager) Zblewski. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1944. After graduation she was employed with Hardware Mutual (now Sentry Insurance) in the underwriting department until 1951. She married Edmund Hytry on June 26, 1948 at St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. After their marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband Edmund preceded her in death on July 13, 1993.

After Edmund passed, Elsie worked for American Equity Bank (now Old National Bank) as a greeter and at M & I Bank in the Safe Deposit Box department, and was also a sales clerk for Erzinger Mini Mall from 1974 to 1984. Elsie was generous with her time and enjoyed being part of organizations.

She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary, serving as Senior Vice President, and was also the Forget-Me-Not chairperson for over 10 years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, serving as President, and was the Poppy Chairperson for over 10 years. Elsie joined the St. Peters Rosary Society in 1957, serving at Directress since 1961, also treasurer for seven years and vice president for five years. She also sang in the Seasonal and Funeral Choirs since 1986. She was a volunteer at the Portage County Commission on Aging at the Lincoln Center since 1988. Elsie's greatest joy was her family and her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved being with her " Little Bugs" – her great grandchildren.

Elsie is survived by her children; Roman (Linda) Hytry, Cary, N.C., Linda Konopacky of Custer, Wayne (Debbie) Hytry of Sparta, Kevin (Janie) Hytry of Stevens Point, Berdell (Kurt) Wise of Racine; her six grandchildren; Nicole (Kevin) Schlice, Ryan (Jessica) Hytry, Kyle (special friend Molly) Hytry, Logan (Candace) Hytry, Dallas Hytry and Hunter (fiancé Cassie Konkol) Hytry. Further survived by her six great grandchildren; Alexis, Jordan and Jaxon Schlice, Easton and Colton Hytry and Myles Hytry and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters Regina Sroda, Sophie Ebel, Sallie Baron and Maola Peplinski, eight brothers; Ben, Ambrose, Dominic, Ernest, Clarence, Valford, Jerome and Roman Zblewski, and a son in law Peter Konopacky.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Elsie's name at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Staff at North Crest Assisted Living for their loving care and friendship she received as a resident there. Also, a special thank you to Compassus Hospice of Stevens Point for their compassionate guidance shown to us.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, until 10:15 a.m. prior to the funeral mass.  There will be a general rosary at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
