Eric J. Walters

Eric Johnathon Walters, age 46, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2021 after a long hard fought battle with Kelch-Like Protein 11 Encephalitis. Eric was born November 21, 1974 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Eric is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Walters (Schultz) and son Samuel Walters; his parents George and Anita Walters (Brezinski); three sisters: Melissa (Jack) Rzentowski, Pam Walters, and Stephanie Dombrow; Father and mother-in-law Dennis and Mary Schultz, brother- in-law Jim (Kristin) Schultz, sister-in-law Brenda (Shawn) Wenzel; 12 nieces/nephews and two great nieces/nephews.

Extended family: John (Debbie) Prasch, Sarah (Barry) Smith, Jenny (Jeremy) Szymkowiak, Luke (Courtney) Prasch. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, great niece and sister-in-law.

He graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) in 1994 and then studied welding at Mid-State Technical School in Wisconsin Rapids. Shortly after, he started an apprenticeship with Faith Technology where he worked up to a Project Manager/Superintendent. His role was handling large projects throughout the United States. He worked for Faith Technologies for 21 years.

Eric will be remembered for his genuine larger than life personality and his kind heart as he was always going out of his way to help others. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his wife and son and enjoying the outdoors. His passion for ice fishing with friends and family led him and his son to join the North American Ice Fishing Circuit (NAIFC) where they competed in many tournaments throughout the Midwest. Eric enjoyed mountain biking and cheering for his son during his high school sporting events in football, basketball and track.

Eric's family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at Mayo Clinic, especially Dr. Divyanshu Dubey and Dr Peter Gay, as well as, the ER, 5 West, and Oncology staff of Aspirus St Michaels Hospital. Point Forward Physical Therapy, and the amazing Cardiac ICU staff of Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.

In lieu of sending flowers, all monetary gifts will be donated to Mayo Clinic in Eric's name to support Kelch-Like Protein 11 Encephalitis research. Donations can be sent to Mary Walters at 2956 Firkus Rd, Stevens Point, WI. 54482

A celebration of Eric's life will be held at a later date.

Eric impacted many people in his short but very full life! His strength and perseverance were an inspiration to others. He will live on in the hearts and lives of the people he loved. We invite you to keep Eric alive in your heart always.
