Eugene A. Cisewski

Eugene A. "Gene" Cisewski, after a 4 ½ year courageous battle with multiple myeloma, our brave husband, father and grandfather, Eugene Cisewski, 75, passed away on March 8, 2023 with his family by his side.

Eugene (Gene, Geno) was born on June 19, 1947 to Phillip and Sally (Szablewski) Cisewski. He lived his whole life in the Town of Hull.

Eugene (or "ski" as his army buddies called him) entered the army November 9, 1966, in Milwaukee, WI. Gene served as a SP4 with the Company C 4th Battalion Second Brigade and bravely served his country fighting in Viet Nam. Gene received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged October 30, 1968 at US Army Personnel Center in Oakland, CA. He then served in the United States Army Reserve for four years completing his duty on November 8, 1972.

When he returned from Viet Nam he was employed by Joerns Healthcare until his retirement in 2004.

In March 1969 he met the love of his life, Karen Rose Landowski, and they married August 8, 1970. He was blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Gene had many hobbies, including: hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, old-time country music. He enjoyed over 20 years attending the Hodag Country Music Festival. He was an avid outdoorsman and most of all loved spending time with his family and friends. Gene was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Chapter 30 and the American Legion Berens-Scribner Post 6.

Gene is survived by his wife of 52 ½ years, Karen, his children: Tammy (Shane} Weronke, Rosholt; Jeffrey (Katie) Cisewski, Stevens Point; and Jennifer (Brian) Schultz, Plover, his 7 grandchildren: Cole and Aidan Weronke, Emily, Ellie, and Eric Cisewski, and Carmen and Evan Schultz
He is further survived by his 4 brothers: Albin (Grace), Harry (Anna), Bernard and Clarence (Jacki); two sisters: Jane (Anthony) Rucinski and Cathy (Ken) Grezenski, a sister-in-law Agnes Cisewski and brother-in-law Nick (Vicki) Landowski, and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends

Gene was preceded in death by: his parents (Phillip and Sally), 5 brothers: Arthur (Bridget), Irwin, Richard, Lester and Kenneth; and four sisters, Ruth, Florence (Ben) Waldoch, Hedwig (Barney Salvinski) (Leo) Lewandowski, and Patricia (Henry) Filipiak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Torun. Rev. Thomas Nirappel officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Pisarski Funeral Home of Stevens Point, and from 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Church until the time of mass.

There will be an American Legion Post 6 Ritual at 6:45 P.M followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home

Eugene was a proud veteran. We ask that you can honor him by wearing: red, white, and blue.

The family wishes to thank: Dr. Onitillo and his staff of the Oncology Department at Marshfield Medical Center in Stevens Point, and special thanks to the specialists that helped in his final days, as well as the ICU staff at Marshfield Hospital in Weston.
