Florian B. Disher, age 85, of the Town of Linwood, died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. Florian was born on October 27, 1935 at home, on Franklin Street, in Stevens Point. A son (and one of 14 children) of the late Theodore and Agnes (Cisewski) Disher.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Piesik in 1965 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. The couple raised four children, Florian Jr, Lori, Duane and Linda.
Florian served Honorably in the United States Air Force as a Communication Center Specialist for two years. Upon his return to civilian life, he was employed with Soo Line Railroad, Waste Management and as a Carpenter for many years. Florian was a man of many trades and he possessed a wealth of knowledge. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Parish, former member of the Holy Name Rosary Society and Family Society.
Florian loved his Polka music, often playing it loud and proud for the entire neighborhood to hear. He taught his children to polka dance as well as concertina lessons. He enjoyed fishing in the family pond, hunting, spending time with family and could often be heard saying "Let's Go!", as he enjoyed taking rides and the occasional trip up North. He made many memories spending time with his family. Very seldom did you see him without his Green Bay Packers ball cap!
Florian is survived by; his wife, Barbara; children, Florian Jr. (Stephanie Greco-Disher) Disher, Lori Disher, Duane (Ronetta) Disher and Linda (Daryl) Simonis; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Conrad (Pat), Ronald, Donald (Linda), David and Gerald (Diane) Disher; sisters, Margie (Frank) Woiak and Charlotte Disher; and by numerous other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; two brothers, Ted Jr. and August; and four sisters, Betty Jean, Geraldine, Elaine and Patricia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2493 County Road M, Stevens Point, WI 54481 at 10:30AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 with Rev. Mariapackiam Pitchai-Savari "Father Packi", presiding. Military honors and burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point from 4:00-7:00PM on Friday, February 5, 2021 concluding with a Rosary.
Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home and at church for the funeral mass.
