Frederick "Chief"  Gordon

Of Stevens Point passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his home.

Age 73 Fred was born June 28, 1951, in Hayward, WI. He was the son of the late Frederick Sr. and Geraldine (Basina) Gordon. He attended local schools, graduating from Ashland High School, and then obtaining a Degree in Accounting.

Fred entered the United States Army on August 28, 1968, in Minneapolis, MN. He served as a Pvt. E-1 and was a Radio Operator with the Eight Army.  He also served in the United States Army Reserves being honorably discharged on August 25, 1974.

His marriage to Suzette Carnahan took place in 1972, and the couple had 2 children, Ira & Karrie, then later divorced.

He then married to Darlene Worzalla in March of 1996. His wife Darlene survives.

Chief worked for Bake-rite Baking Company in his early years, then Sirco Manufacturing for many years, Oak Furniture Outlet and Ira's Oak Finishing as a Supervisor in the finishing room. In his free time, he loved wood working and enjoyed making holiday decorations for his family. Fred would decorate the yard for all holidays, but really enjoyed Halloween and handing out candy to the kids. It would always put a smile on his face.  He also loved the outdoors and gardening as well as a good challenging cross word puzzle.  He was also very passionate about his Chicago Bears.

Survivors include his wife Darlene, his son Ira (Sandy) Gordon and daughter Karrie Worzalla. Ten grandchildren, Eleven great grandchildren, and three stepchildren; Cindy Legg, Vicki Montonati and Channing Worzalla. Further survived by his three brothers; Frank Gordon, William "Bim" Gordon and Marvin Gordon.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Larry and one sister Kathy.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at King at the Committal Pavilion.
