Gary Leonard Jurgella of Mosinee passed away peacefully on Monday March 29, 2021, at the age of 70 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born on December 7, 1950, to the late Leonard and Violet (Okray) Jurgella of Stevens Point. Gary married Karen (Pecha) on October 24, 1987, in Plover.
Gary was Vice President at Associated Bank (formerly First Financial) where he met Karen. He retired from Associated Bank and continued to keep busy working at Ready Rental and Standard Electric for a number of years. Gary was a member of the Elks Club, Lake Dubay Home Owners association, and the YMCA.
Gary was passionate about traveling and was particularly fond of Jamaica. He and Karen enjoyed bi-annual trips to California, Florida, and to the Caribbean. Gary and Karen built their dream home on Lake Dubay in 2007 and have been loving 'lake life' ever since. Gary was an avid cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family hosting many Packer parties, summer get-togethers for friends and grandkid parties.
He loved playing cribbage, working out with friends at the Y, maintaining his pristine lawn, and pontooning around the lake flying the Jamaican flag. Gary will be missed by all that knew him for his love of cocktails, friendly ribbing, and avidly discussing politics or sports.
Gary is survived by Karen his wife and best friend of 34 years, as well as his son Nick (Sarah) Jurgella of Stevens Point, his daughter Jill (Trent) Dudei of Mosinee, grandchildren, Matthew and Brett Dudei, Emily and Hannah Trzinski, his brothers, Mark (Patti) Jurgella and Ron Jurgella both of Stevens Point. His sister, Barbara Werth of Sun Prairie, his brother-in-law, Tom (Sandra) Pecha of Mosinee, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nanci (Manuel) Jurgella Mayer.
Per Gary's wishes there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Our family would like to thank the staff at the House of the Dove for the excellent care they provided and for allowing the family to visit.
