IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald "Jerry"
Stedl
June 15, 1937 – September 1, 2025
Gerald "Jerry" Ambrose Stedl
Jerry, a devoted husband and loving father, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025 at 88 years of age, surrounded by his wife and four daughters.
Jerry was born at home in Greenleaf, Wisconsin on June 15, 1937 to Leonard and Ella (Biemborn) Stedl. The oldest of seven children.
He married the love of his life, Sharon (White) on January 29, 1963, a marriage that lasted 62 years.
Jerry "Cool Jer" enjoyed going to and watching Packer games. When he was younger, one of his first jobs was a beer vendor at City Stadium, before Lambeau Field was built. He owned and ran a Mobile gas station on Velp Avenue in Green Bay. Later he worked for Firestone, moving his family to Stevens Point in 1976. When he wasn't ready to retire, he became a courtesy driver for Scaffidi Motors.
Jerry enjoyed going to casinos to play bingo and lose a few dollars at slots. He enjoyed quiet afternoons spent either on his pontoon or sitting quietly on the deck at his cottage as well as playing "Buck" with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; daughters, Suzanne Stedl, Debra Stedl, Kathleen Stedl and Cynthia Meyer (Carl "Pete" Hoff). Grandsons Jed Holsen (Heather Schneider), Jeremy Meyer, Granddaughter Megan Meyer and the apple of his eye, great granddaughter Hazel Rae Holsen.
He is further survived by his brothers; Dick (Darlene) Stedl, Ken (Linda) Stedl, Mike Stedl (Sharon Szczepanski) Sisters-in-law; Lynn (Bernie) Sinclair, Donna (Tom) Mancoske, and Julie (Roger) Stedl. Brothers-in-law; Raymond White, Wayne (Terri) White, Ken (Tammy) White, Kevin (April) White, Darrell (Mary Ann) Andrews; former in-laws; Ken Golonka, Leann (Destarky) Kobylinski, Sharon (Millis) White and Ann (Massey) White, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins; plus his two former sons-in-law; John Holsen and Tim Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents. His brothers; Bob and Roger Stedl, his sister Pat Golonka, his nephew Randy Golonka, his in-laws Raymond and Agnes White. His sister-in-law Mary Ann Andrews and his brother-in-law Bernie Sinclair.
Jerry had gone seventeen months on dialysis with DaVita and enjoyed teasing his nurse, Becky Scipior. When he began dialysis, he made it clear that at some point it would be his decision to stop. Jerry recently decided to discontinue his nightly dialysis. He was immediately put on hospice where he was well cared for by the Compassus nursing staff, especially Venessa.
Cool Jer was always thinking about his family and their well-being. We are forever grateful he gave us the opportunity to create more memories, relive past memories and share laughs with family, friends and neighbors in the weeks following his decision.
In lieu of flowers the family will make a donation to the
