Geraldine Harriett Zelhofer

Geraldine Harriett (Kita) Zelhofer, lovingly known as "Gerry," of Stevens Point, WI, passed away, peacefully on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025, at Whispering Pines, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 90.

Gerry was born on December 9, 1934, in Fish Creek, WI, the daughter of Roman and Flora (Barrett) Kita. She grew up on the family farm with her siblings James, Donald, Everett, and her twin brother Gerald. She attended local schools and graduated from Gibraltar High School.

On October 16, 1954, she married John Zelhofer at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Baileys Harbor. They shared a beautiful life together up till John's passing on October 17, 1996. Together they raised six children: Keith, Kent, Kevin, Kurt, Kathy, and Karla. Gerry devoted over twenty years to raising her family as a homemaker before later working at McDonald's.

Gerry was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point, where she was also active in the St. Anne's Society. Her faith was an important part of her life. She spent many years volunteering at St. Michael's Hospital, offering her time and care to others in the community. She was also an avid sports fan and bowler and could often be found cheering from the sidelines at her children and grandchildren's games and events.

Survivors include her children: Keith (Tammie) Zelhofer of Green Bay, Kent Zelhofer of Stevens Point, Kevin (Ruth) Zelhofer of Waupaca, and Karla (Kurt) Strojny of Stevens Point; her grandchildren: Ryan Zelhofer, Erin Zelhofer, Wayne (Jessica) Zelhofer, Kate (Mark) Smallwood, Eric (fiancé Shannon De La Rosa) Zelhofer, Nicole Zelhofer, Steven Lepak, Riley (Chafen)

Emory, Jake Lepak, Tye Lepak, Gabby (Bradley) Graveen, and Caden Strojny; also, her great-grandchildren: Charlie and Ella Zelhofer, Brooke and Natalie Smallwood, and Blakely and Banks Emory. She is also survived by her brother Gerald Kita; her sisters-in-law Marion May and Roberta Zelhofer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Kurt; her daughter, Kathy Lepak; her daughter-in-law, Susan; her siblings, James, Donald, and Everett; her sisters-in-law Katherine, Joann, and Karon; her special friend, Gene Laszewski; and four of John's siblings: Cecelia, Katherine, Willard, and Germaine.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aspirus–Stevens Point Hospital, Whispering Pines, and Aspirus Hospice for their compassionate and dedicated care.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine will be held at 11:00am on Saturday May 17, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church-1709 Wyat Avenue, with Rev. Jeffrey Hennes officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of services. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.
