Goldene G.  Purcell

(87) of Stevens Point, passed away  December 14, 2022 at Aspirus St. Michael's Hospital.  Goldene was born Sept. 16, 1935 in Allenville, WI, and was the only child of Jacob and Gertrude (Haedt) Schmoker. She graduated from Winneconne High School, and Central State Teachers College (UWSP). Goldene was a kindergarten teacher in Green Bay and Stevens Point.

Her marriage to James Michael Purcell took place on June 28, 1958 in Allenville, WI.

Goldene is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly (Bill) Hitzemann of Waterloo, WI, and Jacqueline Purcell (Matthew) Callister of Las Vegas, NV, and one son James Scott Purcell of Madison, WI. She especially loved her three grandchildren, Trevor Hitzemann, Zoë (Brett) Jump and Häna Goldene Callister. She is also survived by her special friend Bob Steinke.

Goldene was preceded in death by her husband Jim on January 18, 1999 and an infant brother Laverne Schmoker on July 12, 1940.

In keeping with Goldene's wishes there will be no public service. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held in the spring at the Allenville Cemetery.

Memorials in her name would be appreciated to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Stevens Point, the Portage County Humane Society, or any organization of your choice that dispenses help and comfort to others.
