Grace L. Pliska
Grace L. Pliska of Stevens Point, WI went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2023 at the age of 100.
Grace was born March 8, 1922 to Bernard and Regina Check. She spent most of her early years working on the family farm. She attended George Washington grade school in Bevent and St. Adalbert's school in Rosholt.
During WWII she worked at Allen & Bradley, Hummel & Downing and Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee. Soon after the War ended, Grace met Harry Pliska who became her husband on November 27, 1946 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. Her husband preceded her in death on July 18, 2007.
Grace was a homemaker who resided for many years on the north side of Stevens Point. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and good conversation with family and friends. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She helped with their care when needed and always made them feel at home whenever they came to visit.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Grace's name will be established at a later date.
Grace is survived by her sons, George (Patt Loecher) Pliska, Dennis Pliska and Lee Pliska; son-in-law Greg Wysocki (Ellen Wysocki); grandchildren, Matt Wysocki (Susan DeBolt), Clare Wysocki (David Schmidt), Beth Wysocki (Mike Liepitz), Nicole Pliska and Andrea (Mike Meeks); two great grandchildren, Lily and Eli Meeks; and two brothers, Andy Check and Wally (Linda) Check.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry; daughter Ellen Wysocki; five brothers, Tom, Hank, Barney Jr, Joe and Nick; and four sisters, Josephine Pallen, Elizabeth Sullivan, Theresa Gorski and Mary Wanserski.
Grace will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the Portage County Heath Care Center for the care Grace received during the past years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. Thursday morning at the St. Faustina room of St. Peter Church until the time for mass. The Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
