Howard Hoeft of Plover died on February 9, 2025 at home. He was born on February 25, 1949, in Watertown, Wisconsin, to Harold and Irene (Heiser) Hoeft. In 1969, He was drafted and served in the US Army. He served in combat in Vietnam, and was medically discharged. He was awarded many medals such as a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He trained as a union carpenter apprentice and went on to work as a journeyman carpenter for 8 years, before becoming an estimator/project manager in Milwaukee. He later spent the balance of his career as a supervisor of buildings and grounds for public schools in Watertown, WI, Rhinelander, WI, and eventually retiring from DC Everest in Weston.
Howard enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He bred pigeons and chickens, showing them at county fairs all over the Midwest. He showed Scotch Highland cattle as a fitter and enjoyed breeding many litters of dogs. He loved to garden, and enjoyed raising unusual varieties of heirloom vegetables plants from seeds, which shared enthusiastically with friends.
Howard is survived by sons Mason (Becky) Hoeft of Monona, WI, Casey (Yael) Hoeft of Columbus, WI; grandchildren Archer Hoeft of Columbus, WI, and Oliver Hoeft and Sydney Hoeft of Monona, WI; sisters Bernadine Clark of Watertown, WI, Rachel (Steve) Lunde of Waukesha, WI, Susan Giudice of Oconomowoc, WI; and brother-in-law Kevin Hrbacek of Sullivan, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carrie Hrbacek.
A Celebration of Life for Howard will be held at 11:00am on Thursday February 20, 2025 at The Pisarski Funeral Home and Cremation Center- 2911 Plover Rd, Plover. Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the time of services. Chaplain Mark Lewis will be officiating, along with full military honors done outside the funeral home.
