Irene (Suski) Glodowski, 82, passed away peacefully of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on May 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
Irene was born January 20, 1942, in the town of Stockton to Ed and Mary (Myska) Suski. After graduation from PJ Jacob's high school in 1960, she took a job at Sentry Insurance as a stenographer. Irene met Jerry Glodowski at a polka dance, they fell in love and continued polka dancing together for 61 years. They were united in marriage on May 6, 1961, at St. Mary of Mount Caramel (Fancher).
They were blessed with 2 children: Rodney (Denna Dahlman) and Roxanne (Tim Mancl). They had 2 grandchildren: Amy Mancl (Peter Falk) and Tyler Mancl (Julia Murra). They were further blessed with 5 great-grandchildren. Evan, Eli and Lydia Falk, Oliver, and Emmett Mancl.
Irene held various jobs and retired from Bull's Eye Credit Union. For many years after her retirement, it was her voice you heard when you called the credit union answering system.
She had so many gifts and talents. Many people enjoyed her sewing, cooking, baking and hospitality. One of her favorite past times was working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She truly had a green thumb. Every fall you could find her busy canning and freezing the garden harvest. Of course, she shared all of this with her family.
Irene had a big heart and shared her time volunteering at Riverview Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital, and served at many Fancher Church Picnic/funeral lunches.
They had many traveling adventures including Alaska, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Irene is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters Pat (Suski) (Ted) Cychosz and Ramona (Suski) Wolff.
She was pre-deceased by her husband; parents; infant brother Robert; sisters Marie (Suski) Kizewski and Rita (Suski) Matthews/Bennett. Brother-in-law, Ward.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Grand in Wisconsin Rapids and Aspirus Riverview Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to St. Mary of Mount Caramel Church or the ALS Society.
