Irene Pintar

May 16, 1928 — October 20, 2021

Irene Ann Pintar of 3025 Simonis St. in Stevens Point died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of October 20, 2021 in her home and under the loving care of her son, Jerry. Irene was 93 years old.

Irene had suffered from Alzheimer's related dementia for over twelve years and, for the past seven years, required constant supervision, assistance, and care due to the increasing severity of the disease. Her son had provided this care. The family would also like to sincerely thank Ms. Maribel Vignato and her family for lovingly assisting in Irene's care while Irene and her son wintered in Morgan Hill California.

Also, due to the devastating effects of this disease on cognition and the overall ability to live a normal life, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, any and all expressions of generosity should be made to entities dedicated to Alzheimer's research and support.

Irene Ann Pintar was born on May 16, 1928 to S. George and Mabel A. Jaworski (Dudzik) of 316 Union Street in Stevens Point Wisconsin. She attended St. Peters Catholic Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School, class of 1945. She was an only child.

Irene was very proud to be employed by Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point. She began her career at Sentry at age 17 while still in high school and maintained employment at Sentry for her entire working career, finally retiring in 1993.

Irene had begun employment as a clerical typist but quickly advanced and spent most of her career at Sentry in the Human Resources department ending her career in various HR management positions. She enjoyed the respect and admiration of many at Sentry throughout her career, including rank and file employees as well as executives. Competence and a charming empathic personality were trademarks of her work ethic and method of interacting with people at all levels.

Irene was married to Nicholas R. Pintar on May 28, 1949 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The marriage ended upon Nicholas' death on July 13, 2013. They had two children Jerome (Jerry) and Karen who survive.

Irene was a devout Catholic for her entire life and active at St. Peter's parish until 1962 when, after building a home on the east side of Stevens Point, the family transferred to St Stanislaus parish where the family were active members up until the effects of her dementia curbed her ability to attend. Irene was also an enthusiastic member and officer of the National Catholic Society of Foresters for over 40 years prior to the onset of the disease.

In addition to her career and church activities Irene enthusiastically enjoyed the performing arts, cross country skiing, reading, traveling and, perhaps most of all, caring for her family. She particularly enjoyed interacting with her grandchildren as they grew up. She encouraged them, babysat them and was their biggest fan in all of their endeavors and sporting activities. Her great grandchildren also occupied special places in her heart.

Survivors include her two children: Jerry of Morgan Hill CA/Stevens Point WI and Karen (Robert) Cook of Rhinelander; six grandchildren: Christopher, Bryan, Sonia, Tanya, Timothy and Jeffrey; and seven great-grandchildren: Cameron, Devin, Hayla, Alexander, Sofia, Noah and Louisa.
