Irvin Arthur Derezinski

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irvin Arthur Derezinski, beloved husband of Bernadine, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, November 13th, 2024, at the age of 90. Born in Gresham, WI, on August 1, 1934, to Michael and Frances (Elbrandt) Derezinski, he was raised on the family farm before moving to Stevens Point, where he would build a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.

A proud graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School, Irvin was a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Bernadine, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Together, they built a family centered on faith, hard work, and joy.

Irvin worked for many years as a color specialist at the paper mill, but his skills and work ethic extended beyond his primary career. He took pride in many side jobs over the years, including assisting Uncle Edwin with painting, helping at the Altenburg farm, and even delivering milk. Irvin was known for his ability to fix anything, aka a jack of all trades! An entrepreneurial spirit led him to own two duplexes, demonstrating his resourcefulness and dedication to providing for his family.

Above all, Irvin was a family man. He and Bernadine raised nine children, and his legacy continues through his 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He treasured his family deeply and always made time for them, whether it was taking nature photos, berry picking, fishing, hunting, camping, or simply capturing memories of their time together. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for sharing those experiences with his loved ones.

A man of strong faith, Irvin was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church throughout his adult life. He volunteered in countless ways, as a Eucharistic Minister, for 7 years Irv and Bernie chaired the Fall Festival, volunteered and donated to the church picnics, and he cleaned the church weekly in his later years. His commitment to his faith extended beyond service, as he sang with the Choraleers and traveled to many parishes to sing at special masses with polka music. Irvin and Bernadine shared a love for polka dancing, routinely attending dances every Sunday and winning a few dance honors over the years. They were also regulars at church picnics, enjoying the company of their community during the summers.

Irvin's passion for life, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his strong Catholic faith were the cornerstones of his character. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love, joy, and service, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Irvin is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadine; his nine children, Ann Zurawski, Mike and Chris Derezinski, Paul Derezinski, Dan and Cathy Derezinski, Marge and George Hetzer, Pete and Gail Derezinski, Terri and Sean Stilson, Beth and Shane Fenske, and Amy and Rob Prellwitz; his 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his sister Florence and John Hora, sister-in-law Daroma Derezinski, sister-in-law Loretta Cisewski, brother-in-law Allen and wife Betty Trzinski, sister-in-law Grace and husband Bob Kulas, sister-in-law Vicki and husband Dennis Zimmerman, sister-in-law Donna Trzinski and many other relatives and friends.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Frances Derezinski, his sister Irene and brother-in-law Jim Mancl, his brother Michael Derezinski, his father and mother-in-law Felix and Elizabeth Trzinski, his sister-in-law Joan and her husband Jim Mancheski, his sister-in-law Clare and her husband Eugene Herman, brother-in-laws Joseph Trzinski, Raymond Cisewski, and Leonard Cisewski and his sister-in-law Kathleen and her husband Arthur Kowalski.
