James Jisko

May 24, 1949 — August 15, 2025

Plover

James (Jim) Jisko, 76, devoted and loving husband of Teresa (Zortman) Jisko, father of James (J.J.) Jisko and Sarah (Jisko) Karch, and Grandpa to Cole Karch and Sophie Jisko, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025.  At the time of Jim's passing, he was surrounded by his family and the kind and caring medical staff of Aspirus, Wausau.

Jim was born on May 24, 1949, in Stevens Point, WI. He was the second child of seven, born of the late Clarence and Grace (Garski) Jisko. Jim lived in the Plover/Stevens Point area his entire life.  He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School, in 1968 and continued to work at the Sky Club in Plover until receiving his draft notice from the U.S. Army.  Upon returning to Plover, Jim began his full-time employment with Consolidated Papers, Whiting Division, until his retirement in 2011.

On August 15, 1970, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Teresa Zortman.  During their marriage of 55 years, they were blessed with two wonderful children, son J.J. and daughter Sarah, and in time, they became proud grandparents of Cole and Sophie, who will always hold a special place in Grandpa's heart.

Jim had many interests and past-times including hunting (deer, turkey), both in Wisconsin and out West, fishing in all seasons, pitching horseshoes, and last but not least, his greatest passion, was time spent with the ones most dear, while camping, fishing and boating at Clear Lake. When he wasn't on the lake chasing "The Big One", there was always an Old Maid or Cribbage competition to be had.  Jim and Teresa spent many happy hours taking quiet rides in the country.

Jim is survived by his wife Teresa, son James Jisko (Nicole), daughter Sarah Karch (Aaron), two grandchildren, Cole Karch and Sophie Jisko, two step-grandchildren Taylor Miller (Chase) and Sydney Pemble, four step great grandchildren, Dane Miller, Dawson Miller, Dax Miller and Jade O'Day, three brothers, Thomas Jisko (Debbie), Eugene Jisko (Cheryl), Tim Jisko (Barb), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Grace Jisko, two brothers, Larry Jesko, and Richard Jisko, and one sister, Peggy Jisko.

We, Jim's family, would like to extend our sincerest gratitude, and "Thank You", to all of the kind, caring, and wonderful people who stepped in and took such good care of both Jim and our family while at Clear Lake and the Aspirus Hospitals.
