Janette "Jan" C. Taylor

February 10, 1960 — March 12, 2021

Stevens Point

Janette Carol Taylor, age 61, a resident of Stevens Point, died peacefully at home, surrounded by those she loved on March 12 th , 2021. She was born on February 10, 1960, in Superior, Wisconsin to James and Pamala (Lane) Taylor.

While living throughout Wisconsin, Jan achieved many things, including a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, and eventually became a part time instructor of both Criminal Justice and Hunter's Education. During her career in law enforcement, she was with the Stevens Point Police Department and Portage County Sherriff's Department.  In her final years of work, she was the first female Lieutenant of Patrol (something she and her family were enormously proud of!).

Jan was an outstanding influence in many people's lives and will be remembered for endlessly cheerleading her children on throughout life (and attending all of their sporting events). She had a knack for motivating others to achieve their highest potential and her competitive spirit will not be forgotten. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren for their many accomplishments.

On January 30, 1999, Jan married Scott T. Ironside. The two of them enjoyed many shared activities, such as camping, hunting, fishing, skiing, reading, and caring for their dogs. Upon her diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), she and Scott both retired from law enforcement to fight this new battle together. Jan never stopped looking for a cure, however none were found. Her battle with the ugly disease is over and her chains are now gone.

She is survived by her four children (by first husband, James Bauer), Korina Mae (Pubanz), Ariane Leigh (Isreal Totzke), Rebekah Rose (Chris Piche), Gabriel Bauer (Cierra), and her nine grandchildren; Olivia, Roan, Samuel, Jacob, Isabelle, Taylor, Leo, Ellie and Greyson.

She will be greatly missed.

Jan was preceded in death by many cherished friends and family.
