Jerome "Jerry" Wierzba

Jerome "Jerry" R. Wierzba, age 69, of Stevens Point, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 7, 2021 at his home under Aspirus hospice, with the loving care of his family at his side due to a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Jerry was born on Feb. 10, 1952 to John Sr. & Margaret (Betker) Wierzba of Shantytown.  Jerry was raised on the family farm in Shantytown.  He graduated from DC Everest High School in 1970.

He married Elaine Swiander on May 19, 1973 in Plover.  After their marriage the couple settled in Shantytown, later moving to the Whiting area and in 1991 to their current residence in Stevens Point.

Jerry worked for Laborers Union 330 for 33 years, retiring in 2007 to enjoy all of his favorite activities; fishing, hunting, wood working, wine making, canning, more fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Elaine and three daughters: Melissa Lassa of Mosinee, Tanya (Mike) Dorn of Plover and Amanda (John) Haapala of Stevens Point.  Along with five grandchildren; Cody & Caitlyn Lassa, Jade & AJ Haapala and Wyatt Dorn.

He is further survived by his siblings; Norbert (Bernie), Jeanette Gollon, Jerry's twin James, Joe, Marcie (Dennis) Hintz, Joyce (Jeff) Krukowski, Joan (Pat) Oneil, Judy (Larry) Osowski, Jackie (Tom) Hintz, Mary (Tom) Lewandowski, Norman (Brenda) Wierzba, one brother-in-law; Russ Miller and one sister-in-law; Pauline Wierzba.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; John Jr. & Myron Sr, one sister; Marlene, one niece; Sammy Jo and a dear friend Jerry Rozak.

The family would like to thank The Aspirus Cancer Center, Dr. Christopher Peterson & Dr. Christopher Platta, Aspirus Hospice – Shana, Tina, Spencer and to Donna for the most tender loving care a CNA could give.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday Sept. 17, 2021 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover.  Rev. Eric Mashak will officiate.  Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday Sept. 16, 2021 from 4:00 PM concluding with a Rosary prayed by the Knights of Columbus Council #1170 which Jerry was a member of at 7:00 PM at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home at 2911 Plover Road in Plover, WI.  Also, from 9:00 AM until the time of services Friday morning at the Church.  Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
