JoAnn I. Liszewski
Friday afternoon April 22, 2022, JoAnn Liszewski passed away at the age of 75 in a car accident. JoAnn, also known as Mom, Grandma, and Auntie JoAnn, lived a full life always surrounded by friends, families, relatives, co-workers, and deep faith.
JoAnn was born January 22, 1947 in Medford, WI. She was the daughter of the late Lucille Ruth Daellenbach and Leo Vincent Liebl.
She attended Medford High School and upon graduation, enrolled at North Central Technical Institute in Wausau, WI, where she studied data processing and where she met her husband, Ron George Liszewski. JoAnn, often described as quiet and reserved, must have known Ron was destined to become her lifetime partner, as she approached him while he was studying for an exam and playfully tried to steal the pickles from his lunch.
Ron and JoAnn were married July 8, 1967, at St. Stanislaus in Steven's Point, Wisconsin and enjoyed the love of a lifetime, married a magnificent 54 years and joyfully raising their son, Tim Liszewski.
Throughout their marriage, they were known to often tell each other how lucky and blessed they were to have found one another. When asked how Ron would describe JoAnn, he said "She was my angel and would go out of her way to help people".
Ron and JoAnn belonged to a number of parishes in the Stevens Point area over her lifetime, including St. Steve's, St. Joe's, St. Stanislaus, and St. Bron's. Many knew of her for her beautiful singing voice in church and her incredible giving heart that made her an active volunteer, where she sat on various committees and fundraised for a number of causes centered around church, social and child causes.
JoAnn's life was fulfilled spending time with family and friends, antiquing, gardening, and doing things for others. She had a keen eye for antiques and collectibles and was a chocolate connoisseur – but don't ever offer her pork & beans (!).
JoAnn worked outside the home in addition to being a devoted wife and mother. She started her career working for Copps Grocery in Steven's Point, and eventually co-owned and operated Thrifty's Market with Ron for more than 18 years, and managed accounting and office duties at Schierl Oil and Tire for the past 32 years!
She is survived by her husband Ron Liszewski, son Tim Liszewski, daughter-in-law Collette Kakuk, five grandchildren Nick Liszewski, Cambria Liszewski, Chaise Kakuk, Avery Kakuk, and Estelle Mihal, four sisters Kay (Robert) Marschke, Patricia Liebl, Sandy (Jack) Reseburg, and Joyce (Matt) Marchese and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lucille Ruth Daellenbach and Leo Vincent Liebl, and granddaughter Alex Liszewski.
