John "Johnny Facts" Woyak, 80, of Plover, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, John never missed an opportunity to share a joke and brighten the day of those around him.
Born on October 12, 1944, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, John attended local Catholic schools and graduated from Pacelli High School. As a man who embraced adventure, he found joy in fishing, camping with family in Rhinelander, and traveling to new places with his beloved wife, Marlene—his "Sunshine"—and their family. No matter where life took him, his greatest joy was always his grandchildren and often said with a smile, "Thank God for grandkids."
John had a passion for life's simple pleasures—whether it was a trip to the casino or cheering on his favorite basketball, baseball, and softball teams. He gave back to his community as a volunteer at the Portage County Home, the Red Cross, as a member of the Triad Committee, the Knights of Columbus and serving funerals at St. Bronislava Church in Plover. John was a proud veteran of the National Guard and dedicated 37 years of service to Consolidated Papers before retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marlene (Sunshine) Woyak; his brothers, Michael and Ralph Woyak; his sisters, Elaine (Tony) Dombrowski and Genevieve Hebblewhite; and his children, Dale Woyak (Sarah Weber), Bart (Lisa) Woyak, and Nichole (Scott) Carlson. John's legacy of love and laughter lives on in his grandchildren, Kyle Woyak & Sydnee (Jaden) Komprood, Lindsey & Lauren Woyak, and Mitchell, Alyssa, Trinity, and Morgan Mocadlo, along with step-grandchildren Tommy, Jillian, and Julianna Carlson. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Genevieve and Ralph, and his siblings, Delores, Loretta, Ruth, Marie, Alvin, and Myron.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Melissa, Spencer, Wyatt, Hailey, Hope, and Tonya from Aspirus Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
As we say goodbye, we hold on to his final words: "The last joke has been told."
