Joseph J. (John) Fortmann 75, of Plover passed away peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2024, at his home.

Joe was born August 29, 1948, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Joseph J. and Violet. (Lukitsch) Fortmann. He grew up on the northside of Chicago and attended local schools including Northeastern Illinois University.

Joe spent his career serving others in the Human Service Field in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. In his retirement, he continued serving others through various volunteer roles at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Portage County.

In his free time Joe enjoyed the arts and supporting his local community. He especially loved supporting his grandchildren and encouraging their education and the love of the arts. He was a Chicago sports fan but mostly devoted to his beloved Chicago Cubs. Go, Cubs, Go.

Survivors include his daughters; Joli (Mike) Terch of Wausau and his two granddaughters Charley Marcella and Frankie Violet, his daughter Jessi Page of Nashville, TN, and his granddaughter Anna Violet and grandson Coy Benjamin "Ben"

Further survived by one brother Jim (Marian) Fortmann of Ocala, FL., and one sister Gloria (Steve) Hoekstra of Frankfort, IL.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Joshua.

A private family service was held. Burial will be in the St Peters Catholic Cemetery in Skokie, IL.
