Judith "Judy" M. Konkol Of Plover passed away early Monday afternoon, June 19, 2023 at Point Manor Nursing home with her loving family at her side, while under the care of Promedica Hospice. Age 82, Judy was born August 3, 1940 in Oshkosh, WI. She was the daughter of the late Leon F. and Anastasia A. (Poeschl) Wohlt.
Judy attended schools at Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School in Oshkosh, graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1958 and attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. Judy practiced nursing in the Stevens Point area for 50 years, first as an OB-GYN nurse and later returned to school to become a certified Nurse Practitioner. After retiring, Judy chose to return to nursing, working part at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse Infirmary.
Her marriage to James "Jim" Sowinski took place on June 2, 1962. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1989. She later married Clifford E. Konkol on April 23, 1994 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Her husband Cliff survives. Judy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, doing puzzles and enjoyed baseball and football and playing games of chance.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Judy's name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include her husband Cliff, her four children; Jeanine (William) Taylor of Stevens Point, Christopher (Lisa) Sowinski of Ramsay, MI., Timothy (Ginger) Sowinski of Stevens Point and Stacy (Ego) Ahaiwe Sowinski of Minneapolis, MN. Three stepchildren; Carla (Steve) Welch of Madison, Douglas (Rebecca) Konkol of Verona, WI, and Susan (Thomas) Meilinger of Germantown, WI. Cliff and Judy's blended family includes 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Jim.
The family would like to thank the staff at Promedica Hospice, The Point Manor Nursing Home and Aspirus Wausau Hospital for their compassionate care of Judy a woman who dedicated her life to caring for others.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday June 23, 2023 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church-3200 Plover Road, Plover, 54467. The Very Rev. Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. Friday morning at St. Bronislava Church until the time for Mass.
