Katherine "Kay" Underwood, age 88, died peacefully Sunday Nov. 03 at House of the Dove in Marshfield,
after a short battle with cancer.
Kay was born on Sept 4, 1936 to the late Antone and Eleanor (Stosick) Cherney in Milladore.
She attended local schools, graduating from PJ Jacob's in 1954. During high school she worked at the Emmons store in Steven's Point, something she was quite proud of.
Following high school, she moved to Minneapolis and attended school there for 2 years before moving to California with a friend.
After getting into the travel business in California, she met and married Hal Underwood. They would later divorce.
Kays love for travel knew no bounds, with trips to Hunza, Australia, New Hebrides, India and Figi to name a few.
In addition to her love of travel, Kay was an avid bird watcher. Sometimes identifying them by sound, and her massive collection of bird books.
In 2011 Kay retired and moved to Plover to be closer to her family.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and sister Betty Lorbecki.
She is survived by her brother Edward and wife Nancy Cherney. Also nieces and nephews, Lu Rae (Orin) Sayner, Robert (Carrie) Cherney, Blair Lorbecki, Ralph Cherney, Beth Cherney, Ginger (Tom) Masura, Rita (JJ) Johnson. Great nieces and nephews: Orin, Mike, Michelle, Miracle and Jrew
Per Kay's wishes there will be no funeral services.
