Kurt F. Andersen

May 20, 1953 — April 10, 2023

Stevens Point

Kurt F. Andersen, born on May 20, 1953, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away on April 10, 2023, at his home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, at the age of 69. He was married to the love of his life, Margie (Niespodziani) in 1980. Together they had two children and one granddaughter, with a second grandchild expected in June 2023.

Growing up, Kurt lived in Kohler, and he continued lifelong friendships with the families there.  His family moved to Stevens Point in 1968.  He was an accomplished athlete growing up in a sports-minded family. He played various sports throughout his life. As a PJ Jacobs High School athlete, Kurt played football, coached by his father, was a wrestling champion, and track athlete. He had a great love of education, studying history, philosophy, economics and political science. However, his true passion was his family. He cherished spending time with his wife, children, and granddaughter, and looked forward to welcoming his second grandchild soon.

In his varied work career, including the Portage County Highway Department, Prudential Insurance and Professional Vegetation Management, he always did his best, as he believed every job had value and was to be done to the best of one's ability.

Kurt and Margie also enjoyed spending time with friends, listening and dancing to live music. You always knew where Kurt stood on the issues of the day. He firmly believed that everyone should have a chance to share in and care for the bounty of this earth. His beautiful and carefully tended gardens brought pleasure to many. He was proud of his family history and his Viking heritage and studied his family ancestry in depth. Kurt would often say, "It doesn't hurt to be a nice person," and he lived by that motto.

Kurt was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Emmel,  father LeRoy (Andy) Andersen, and three brothers, Eric, Mark, and Phil. He is survived by his wife, Margie, daughter Evelyn (JJ Allen), granddaughter Myla, and son Lawrence (Nikki Kawski); brother Dave and sister Kathryn Pond.

Kurt will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A gathering to celebrate Kurt's life will be held on May 20th, 2023, 1pm to 4 pm at Chef's Kitchen 924 Clark Street Stevens Point, and all who knew and loved him are invited to attend.  Kurt's wish was to have a party and tell stories, of which there are many, as he lived life to the fullest. Please be respectful of any COVID concerns in order to protect everyone, especially the babies in the family.

As we process the loss of our amazing husband, father, FarFar (Danish for Grandpa) and person, in lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
