Stevens Point

LaVera E. Pech, age 97, of Stevens Point formerly of Plover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by family at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield, Wisconsin.

LaVera was born above a blacksmith shop in Marathon, Wisconsin on December 29, 1926, to Roman and Emma (Gassner) Stieber. She grew up in Colby, Wisconsin where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Colby High School in 1944.

LaVera was united in marriage to Joseph F. Pech on August 26, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, Wisconsin. They were married for sixty-eight years until Joseph's passing in 2016. Together they started their family and operated a dairy farm near Unity, Wisconsin for five years before moving to Madison so that Joseph could attend the University of Wisconsin. After his graduation they settled in Beloit, Wisconsin where they joined Our Lady of the Assumption parish and remained active members for more than forty years.

LaVera embraced the role of motherhood and running her household. She organized many cross-country road trips and camping adventures for their family over the years. She and Joe loved socializing with friends and neighbors wherever they were. In 2009, they settled in Plover, Wisconsin to be closer to family. They joined St. Bronislava Parish and the Plover Senior Center where they established friendships and became involved in the community.

LaVera will be sadly missed by her sons Gerald (Mary Jane Daley) Pech of Baltimore, MD; David (June) Pech of Gainesville, GA; Ronald (Tina) Pech of Fond du Lac; and daughter Susan (Karl) Malnory of Stevens Point. She is further survived by her seven grandchildren, Catherine (Earl) Kipler, Sarah (Matt) Litman, Elizabeth (Steven Petersen) Pech, Janet Pech, Alan Pech, Kristin Malnory and Kevin (Brooke Lang) Malnory. Four great grandchildren include Robbie and Cody Kipler, and Drew and Joanna Litman. Her sister-in-law Marion Staves also survives.

In addition to her husband, LaVera was pre-deceased by her parents; brothers and their spouses Mike (Audrey) Stieber, Joseph Stieber, and David (Joyce) Stieber; sisters-in-law and spouses Eleanor (Ed) Pintavalle; Dorothy (Wayne) Fuller; and brother-in-law Dudley Staves.

LaVera will be fondly remembered for her quick humor and kindness to everyone.
